Studio Moren success at AHEAD awards

At the Sleeper Magazine's recent AHEAD Europe Awards, it was a triumphant evening for the team at Studio Moren with seven shortlisted entries from three recently completed projects, notably 1 Hotel Mayfair, art’otel London Battersea and Hyatt Place London City East.

1 Hotel Mayfair, with GA and Dion & Arles for project owners Crosstree won two awards; Dover Yard being named the Best Bar, Club or Lounge, and Dovetail, Best Restaurant.

Hyatt Place London City East, with Chapman bdsp, clients Resolution Property and Berkeley Capital Group, won the Sustainability Award.

Studio Morens’ strategy was to reuse a former office building to create a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ certified hotel, reconfiguring their own previous aparthotel scheme to increase the room count within the existing footprint, from 217 to 280 keys.

In an era of Sustainability focus, this award recognised projects that demonstrated an innovative commitment to sustainability throughout the design, development, delivery and operation.  Judges noted that Hyatt Place London City East excelled in terms of design and adaptive reuse and additionally showed “a dedicated commitment to well-being and the security and safety of women”, as demonstrated by the achievement of Platinum Status by the SHE Travel Club.

“We are thrilled with these three awards and are thankful to the Judges and Sleeper Magazine for their recognition of our work in hospitality design. In the 30 years since our foundation, hospitality has evolved to cover a range of student, serviced apartments, co-living, co-working, later living and BTR projects. We are currently working across several high-profile projects around the world bringing Sustainability to the fore in everything we do.”
