Hyatt Place London City East

The first Hyatt Place in central London

A
Architecture

The hotel opened in June 2021 and features a ninth-floor roof bar and terrace with views across London, a flexible meeting room concept, a further lobby and restaurant area alongside an orangery, gym, and a grab-and-go food market.

The site was previously home to a seven-storey, 75,000 sq. ft, office block. We worked for Resolution Property to reconfigure a previous aparthotel scheme to increase the room count within the existing footprint, from 217 to 280 keys.

We also added a roof bar, now known as PocketSquare, and expanded the front of house area on the lower ground floor. Planning permission was granted in 2018.

"One of the main challenges on site was the ground floor tenanted commercial units which were in continuous operation during construction. This required complicated MEP coordination, including the use of a vacuum pumped drainage system, and imaginative routing."
