Waterman House

Manex acquired Waterman House, a historic period property sitting on the corner of Kingsway and Kemble Street, and appointed Studio Moren to reimagine the existing hotel consent as a 73-key branded hotel with ancillary spaces and ground floor commercial outlet.
Constructed in 1912, and recognized as an unlisted structure of merit within The Strand Conservation Area, Waterman House was originally the headquarters of L.G. Sloane, a company renowned for manufacturing rubber bands, playing cards, and Waterman pens.

Designed in a Victorian neo-classical style, it features extensive decorative stonework, ornamental railings, and metal Crittall windows on its upper floors.
Following years of neglect and unauthorised habitation, Studio Moren’s scheme restores integrity and purpose to the building. Targeted renovations will resolve long‑standing structural issues, safeguard its long‑term stability, and significantly enhance both its visual character and functional performance inside and out.
The proposal transforms and extends the property into a vibrant, sustainable new hotel, introducing contemporary guest accommodation and high‑quality communal spaces that will greatly enrich its contribution to the city.
