Hilton Hotels Tushino

The Tushino Masterplan is centred around the Otkritie Arena, FC Spartak’s new home and 2018 FIFA World Cup key venue. As well as the 45,000 seat stadium, the masterplan includes a 12,000 seat arena, four large entrance pavilions and two hotel developments.

Studio Moren worked alongside Tushino2018 to develop designs for a Hilton Garden Inn and Hilton hotel to be located to the north of the stadium. Based on our client’s ambition to create a visual reference between the two hotels and stadium, our designs for both hotels are based upon a diamond-effect pattern inspired by the FC Spartak Moscow insignia.

Hilton Tushino comprises a curtain walling façade system designed in a diamond-effect pattern. The façade cladding is a combination of clear glazing and ‘shadow box’ white painted aluminium spandrel panels with occasional dotted ceramic fritting. A glazed porte cochere canopy structure with white metal diamond-pattern lattice work and dark stone cladding on certain wall areas around the base of the building also feature. Steep edged junctions and drip details have also been designed into the façade to encourage water run-off and reduce the rate of icicle development, an issue prevalent in Russian architecture.

Featuring imprinted aluminium seamed cladding, the façade of Hilton Garden Inn Tushino also includes red coloured soffits to make visual connections between the Hilton Garden Inn brand logo, the brand aesthetic of FC Spartak and the architecture of the stadium. Metal canopy structures with ETFE pillows form the porte cochere whilst backlit polycarbonate panels give a translucent effect to the end elevations.
