Hampton by Hilton London Waterloo

Located on Waterloo Road, just a short walk from The Old Vic playhouse, Hampton by Hilton London Waterloo was a first from the brand in central London and the largest outside the US.

Appointed post planning, Studio Moren worked closely with Shiva Hotels and McAleer & Rushe to deliver both architecture and interior design for the 297 bedroom development in 2014.

Introducing a seamless integration of old and new, our architectural project features a new rear extension adjacent to Webber and Gray Street, completed in 2023. It includes 40 contemporary rooms in the new extension and upgrades 5 existing rooms also. The dark grey colour of the external façades blends harmoniously with the original hotel, while the self-cleaning render material matches the texture of the existing concrete cladding. Studio Moren designed both the architecture and interior, for the client Michels and Taylor. This extension increases the capacity of this popular hotel whilst simultaneously respecting its character.

Inspired by the artistry of materials, our architectural extension project weaves together elements that harmoniously blend functionality and aesthetics.

The hotel’s contemporary façade is made from precast concrete, with a series of windows that are recessed and angled alternately in different directions. The elevation subtly changes in appearance as the angles in the facia, combined with the use of cladding in different colour tones, capture light and shadow that vary according to the daylight conditions.
