Studio Moren Shortlisted for RIBA Competition to Design Masai Mara Conservation Centre
Studio Moren has been shortlisted for the prestigious Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) international competition to design the new Masai Mara Conservation Centre in Kenya. This competition, organised on behalf of Abercrombie & Kent Philanthropy, attracted over 100 entries from 32 different countries, and we are honoured to be among the top four selected.
The RIBA competition challenged participants to design an innovative and engaging Conservation Centre at Oloololo Gate that aims to educate and inspire visitors about conservation and the traditions of the Maasai people. The Centre will be a focal point for tourists to the Masai Mara, offering an immersive educational experience that highlights the cultural and ecological significance of the region.
Our proposed design for the Conservation Centre seamlessly integrates Maasai culture with the natural landscape, creating a space that celebrates the region's heritage while incorporating sustainable design principles. A key feature of our concept is a panoramic viewing platform, which connects visitors to the stunning surroundings and enhances the immersive experience.
The Conservation Centre aims to promote awareness of the area's rich cultural and natural heritage, and we are proud to contribute our vision to this meaningful project. We look forward to the next stage of the competition, where shortlisted entries will receive feedback to further refine their designs before the final presentations later this year.
